What is digital accessibility?

Digital accessibility consists in making websites and mobile applications, and other online public communication services, accessible to disabled users. The offered content must be perceptible (easy visual and auditive perception of content), usable, understandable and adapted to assistive technology. Digital accessibility relates to all disabilities that could affect the use of online public communication services, including physical, sensory, mental, cognitive and psychological disabilities, whether lasting or temporary.

European directive (EU) 2016/2102

In accordance with article 47 of French Act 2005-102 of 11 February 2005 for the equality of rights and opportunities, participation and citizenship of disabled persons, transposing European Directive 2016/2102 of 2 December 2016 on the accessibility of websites and mobile applications, and in line with its ambitions and commitments, our Group is dedicated to making its websites (Internet, Intranet and Extranet) and mobile applications accessible.

We develop and publish a multi-year program of accessibility. Our policy on digital accessibility as well as the annual action plans for the compliance of the accessibility of our websites and mobile applications are recorded there.

Directive (EU) 2019/882 (European Accessibility Act)

The Directive (EU) 2019/882 of the European Parliament and Council dated 17 April 2019 pertaining to accessibility requirements applicable to products and services along with its national transposition provisions target digital products/hardware and services aimed at private customers. The latter must therefore comply with 100% of the accessibility requirements specified in the harmonised European standard EN 301 549.

In order to better manage the regulatory obligations, an organisation was set up at Crédit Mutuel Alliance Fédérale and its European subsidiaries.

All the services affected by the directive have been identified and listed.

A training and information strategy, with a dedicated accessibility portal, was deployed for the teams developing these services and producing content, so as to anchor accessibility in their habits.

Our content development and production process was reviewed to integrate accessibility in its different steps with a commitment to self-checks using internal tools.

Thus, over the scope to be made accessible, this process includes accessibility from the design phase and a mandatory training program, in order to be effective on compliance actions.

Audits are regularly scheduled based on the following repositories: RAWeb (repository to assess Web accessibility) for websites and RAAM (repository to assess mobile application accessibility) for mobile applications. We chose these repositories as they are currently the only ones to cover the whole European standard.

Evidence of auditing is recorder in an internal repository and the audit results of each service are published on each site hosting such services.

The details of our organisation and our processes dedicated to the accessibility of our websites, mobile applications, and digital services are set out in our accessibility policy.

Accessibility statements

Website use help

Main navigation

The website has a main navigation menu that provides access to the different sections of the site.
It always placed in the same location, regardless of the page viewed.

Other navigation systems

  • A site plan is accessible using the link on the foot of the page.

Page organisation

Each page is always organised in the same way, with several regions that are defined:

  • Banner or page header area
  • Main navigation with the site menu

Navigation using titles

The use of title levels in the main content of our pages offers several benefits:

  • Better understanding the content of a page by hierarchising information
  • The possibility to extract a summary (through a screen reader functionality) providing an overview of the page content
  • Screen readers offer shortcuts to go directly to a title or browse titles one after another, thus making the path through the page faster and more efficient

Quick access links

Quick access links, which can be found at the start of the document, offer easy navigation to the areas of the main page and access to the important features of the website. They are not visible by default, but appear when objects come in focus.

These links offer direct access to the following:

  • Main page content
  • To the main navigation menu
  • To the search engine
  • To the page header area
  • To the page footer area
  • To the messaging function of the personal banking area

Text size and zoom

All text sizes rely on the use of relative units, which makes it possible to modify them in most browsers.

Our website responds satisfactorily to graphic enlargement.

Keyboard navigation for interactive components

The site contains components based on JavaScript technology.

The most recent are designed to be functional from the keyboard and with a screen reader (such as JAWS or NVDA).
